Museum of Swiss Charters

Since its opening, the Museum of the Swiss Charters of Confederation has become the central place for documents pertaining to the birth of Switzerland.

The museum displays all original copies of the charters dating from 1291 to 1513 as well as additional documents related to Swiss history.

Permanent exhibit
With its permanent exhibits of important documents, flags and banners plus its special temporary exhibits, the museum strives to help its guests to better understand Switzerland's early history.

Visitors can participate interactively in the historic and scientific disputes regarding the charter of 1291. Furthermore, a computer station enables a detailed analysis of the original text and presents the important results of research concerning the early history of the Confederation in a comprehensible way.
