Glacier Garden

Located in the heart of Switzerland, the Glacier Garden is a natural monument with a park and a museum. It is also a quiet oasis in the middle of the city of Lucerne.

Glacial potholes of impressive proportions bear witness to the last ice age and to the fact that Lucerne was once covered by glaciers. Meanwhile, fossilized mussels and palm leaves show that some 20 million years earlier, Lucerne was a subtropical beach. A multimedia show and interactive information system bring the exciting history of the earth to life in an entertaining way.

In the museum you'll find the world's oldest large-scale mountain relief. More modern is the high-tech "Glacierland" exhibit, which includes information on 400 glaciers located in Switzerland, plus detailed displays involving the 25 largest.
