The Way of St. James -- the destination of which is St. James' grave in Santiago de Compostela on the west coast of Spain -- was one of the most popular pilgrim paths during the Middle Ages.

Way of St. James

The Way of St. James is an enormous network of trails leading to Spain from all over Europe. The pilgrim path passes through Lake Lucerne Region at the following places:

  • Brunnen - Treib - Emmetten - Beckenried - Waltersberg - Stans
  • Stans - St. Jakob - Mei-Chäppeli - St. Antoni - St. Niklausen - Flüeli Ranft
  • Flüeli Ranft - Endi - Sachseln - Edisried - Ewil - Zollhaus - Giswil - Rudenz - Kaiserstuhl - Bürglen - Obsee Lungern - Letzi - Brünig

The section from Stans to Flüeli Ranft is also known as the Brother Klaus trail.
