Risleten Gorge, Beckenried

Near Beckenried, discover the impressive yet little known Risleten Gorge.

The polished rocks and spiral-shaped potholes show how the water has carved its way deep into the stone. If you stand on one of the iron bridges above, you can hear the water pulsing below.

Risleten Gorge and Rütenen
As long as there's no snow on the ground, you can reach the Risleten Gorge on foot out of Beckenried. On the way, you pass the picnic and swimming spot at Rütenen. This is a popular place with locals and visitors. You can also drive to Rütenen; be aware that you need to pay to park.

You can also picnic or swim along the Risleten. There's even a little harbor for small boats.

Climbing and dinosaurs
Risleten's large cliffs are ideal for climbing. If you look closely, you might even discover dinosaur tracks.

Beckenried - Treib hike
A hike through the Risleten Gorge is exciting. From Beckenried to Treib, you pass through woods and along cliffs and into clearings where you can enjoy great views of the lake and surrounding mountains. The trail along the gorge requires a certain level of fitness; it features about 300 meters of altitude difference within a short distance. But after that, the hike is very pleasant with gentle ups and downs.

This hike is also a good one when the weather's not that great. It's especially interesting if it's rained the day before -- which causes a lot of water to flow into the gorge.

From Treib, you can relax and take the ship back to Beckenried.
