Kirsch route

The Swiss kirsch (cherry schnapps) route leads to various orchards and distilleries. It passes through the beautiful pre-alpine region of Central Switzerland.

You can especially look forward to summer, when the cherry harvest begins. Typical mountain cherries are sweet, juicy and aromatic. Yet this seductive fruit is also a delight in its liquid form.

Many of the region's desserts are enhanced with kirsch. "Zuger Kirschtorte," (kirsch-flavored cake from Zug), is probably the most famous.
